Jay Butler and his wife Judy have been part of the Immanuel family for over 13 years. As well as being an elder Jay is involved in many of the ministries of the church.. Jay worked for many years for Royal Carting as a truck driver and has retired recently. He is an Army Viet-Nam veteran and served with the New York Air National Guard for 19 years. He is a member of the Hudson Valley Umpire Association and umpires baseball as an NYS baseball official in his spare time. He and his wife Judy have two daughters living at home and an older married son and one grand-son. He and Judy spend a lot of time home schooling their daughters and attending sporting events. Jay and Judy love music, singing, playing the guitar, and leading the Sunday morning praise team. Jay also leads the "Make a Joyful Noise" Sunday worship for early elementary children. .
Larry Matteson has been a member of our Immanuel Church since 2018, and currently serves as an Elder. He is involved in our church and outreach ministries. Larry’s Christian history includes,serving as a Deacon for several years, participating in church committees, Bible
studies, and worked with youth groups.
Larry served in the military, part of which was in Vietnam with the Operating Engineers. After his military service, Larry spent most of his work years in several professions. He was a police officer, tractor trailer driver/teacher, taught driver’s education for a local driving school. He worked 30 years in the oil industry, driving, teaching, and furnace repair.
Larry continues to enjoy his retirement, spending time with his family, and working at his part-time job/hobby for the County of Westchester as an R.S.O. (range safety officer)
Cal Swart has been a part of the Immanuel family since he moved with his wife Trena to the area in 1983 when he joined IBM. He has served for many years as a Deacon and Treasurer, and has been involved in many of the ministries of the church. Cal worked for IBM for over 33 years as a software developer at the TJ Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY. He retired in 2016, but continues to work part-time for IBM at the Research Center. Cal is also a US Air Force veteran. Cal likes to tinker with computers, software, and other electronic projects. Cal and Trena have four children, three daughters-in-law, 1 son-in-law and thirteen grandchildren.
Melissa has been involved with Immanuel since she and her husband, Stephen, moved to the area in 1987. She spent 17 years homeschooling their three children, and then became a dog trainer and also began to more seriously pursue her love of sketching and painting. Throughout those years Melissa served as a Coffee Break Bible study leader and also led small group Bible studies in their home. She is now retired from hands-on dog training and is focusing on art and writing and leads “Sketching as Prayer” retreats from time to time. Melissa and Stephen have three grown children, two wonderful daughters-in-law, a fabulous son-in-law, and seven delightful grandchildren.
Mike has been involved with Immanuel since childhood. He has a family of 5, with his wife Meghann and 3 children Elizabeth, Michael, and Gabriel. He attended University at Albany. He works in the construction industry selling cement block for projects in and around the city. He also is active in Immanuel serving as a deacon and on the building and grounds committee.
